Popular actress Divya Spandana better known as ‘Ramya’ became the youngest female Member of Parliament after she won the recently held Mandya by-polls. Divya won the contest as a Congress candidate against C S Puttaraju of JD(S) by a margin of 47,000 votes.
With this win, however, the actress will bid adieu to her acting career to focus on politics. Divya, ‘the Golden Girl of Kannada Cinema’, has featured in a few Tamil and Telugu films. Her roles in ‘Thananam Thananam’ and ‘Sanju Weds Geetha’ won her Filmfare Awards in Best Actress category.
