Madhuri Dixit readies herself to grace the silver screen again with a prominent role in Desh Ishqiya. The film, also starring Naseeruddin Shah, Arshad Warsi and Huma Qureshi in the lead is an epic love saga of people tangled in crime, suspense, passion and deceit. This is the sequel to the 2010 superhit Ishqiya that starred Vidya Balan in the lead. She claimed the ‘Best Actress’ awards at several award functions.
In the film Madhuri essays the character of Begum Para, who’s fancied by Naseeruddin Shah. Commenting on having Madhuri pull the role, Abhishek Choubey said- “It was a role written exclusively for Madhuri. She plays the Begum. Vidya’s character had nothing left in it to take the story forward. So there was no way that I could’ve included her in ‘Dedh Ishqiya’.” Huma Queresh plays Arshad Warsi’s object of fancy.
Also starring Vijay Raaz, Vivek Chauhan, Shraddha Kapoor and Amrita Puri, the film is slated to release on January 31, 2014.
