The BMW Mini Cooper D Countryman was secretly launched in India, just days following the local production of MINI at the company’s Chennai plant. The new diesel MINI comes in two variants- Countryman and Countryman High- both of which shall be imported as CKDs. Both Countrymen models have a 1.6-liter diesel engine (that’s touted as the cleanest engine with auto-emissions being just 115g/km and ARAI certified mileage being 19.5kmpl) powering them, rendering 122 ps power with 270Nm torque.
With an aim to compete with the soon-to-launch Mercedes A Class, the Mini Cooper D Countryman is priced at INR 25.6 lakhs while the Countryman High is priced at INR 28.9 lakhs (Ex-showroom Mumbai), states OnCars. It takes 9.9 seconds for Countryman to go from 0 to 100 kmph.
