BlackBerry, on Wednesday, introduced its first 5-inch phablet at Kuala Lampur – the BlackBerry Z30. With Samsung having released the Galaxy Note 3 and Sony fielding Xperia Z1, it would be interesting to see what strategies does the Canadian smartphone giant adopt to generate interest in its ‘biggest’, ‘fastest’ and ‘most advanced’ smartphone till date. Pricing and availability will be decided by BlackBerry’s partners at their respective launch events informed the company. Starting next week, the Z30 will be made available in the UK and Middle East. Release in other parts of the world will extend through the holiday season.
According to BGR, the Z30 is driven by a 1.7 GHz Snapdragon S4 Pro processor with quad-core graphics along with 2GB RAM. It offers 16GB of inbuilt memory and is equipped with an 8-megapixel camera. The device will run on BlackBerry v10.2 OS which supports the enhanced version of the popular BBM. A Unique feature of Z30 is that users can tap on various icons for an instant preview even when the screen is locked. Users can now read and reply or dismiss messages on BBM without having to leave current application. The latest version of BlackBerry OS will be made available in mid-October for BlackBerry Z10, BlackBerry Q10 and BlackBerry Q5. The ‘BlackBerry Priority Hub’ manages notifications and conversations by assigning them priorities.
BlackBerry Z30 holds a 5.0-inch Super AMOLED display. It is fueled by a 2,880 mAh battery that can survive 25 hours of use. The phablet also comes packed with stereo audio and ‘BlackBerry Natural Sound’ for more natural and realistic sound. It also holds the next generation ‘Paratek’ antenna that not only tunes reception in poor signal areas but also ensures faster data transfers.
