IFA 2015 is one event to look out for, with many leading tech giants already announcing their plans for the tradeshow event, ASUS being the latest entrant. The Taiwanese company has scheduled its event for September 2, and through a Facebook video has teased the launch of a new smartphone and a new smartwatch.
Sources believe that this new smartphone could be the leaked ZooTDA handset which was recently stopped by Tenaa, the Chinese certification website. The phone is said to feature a 5.5-inch FHD display with 410ppi pixel density. Among other features are an octa-core chipset paired with 2GB RAM, and 16GB internal storage with expandable memory via microSD support. The 4G LTE capable device shall operate Android Lollipop, and has 13 MP rear and 5 MP front camera sensors.
The other device teased in the video, a new smartwatch, appears somewhat like the ZenWatch 2, which was earlier launched by the company at the Computex event in China. That time the release date wasn’t fixed for the device. Hopefully we’ll get a proper launch date at IFA.
Apart from ASUS, other major announcements in the event include Samsung’s new smartwatch Gear 2, which has a circular watch face with a dialler running along its circumference. In high probability it shall run the company’s own Tizen OS. Even Sony has announced its IFA 2015 event on September 2, where it shall be releasing the new in line of its flagship smartphones – the Xperia Z5 and the Xperia Z5 Ultra (also called Xperia Z5+).
