Micromax subsidiary Yu Televentures commence their first sale of Yureka smartphones come Tuesday January 13th, where they offer 10,000 units exclusively on Amazon India, available to buy starting 2pm. Micromax’s new Cyanogen OS-based smartphone Yureka has over 3 lakh registrations, so the 10,000 units are expected to be out of stock in a matter of seconds.
At Rs 8,999, budget smartphone Yureka is Micromax’s response to Xiaomi’s offerings, and sports impressive features for the quoted price. The dual-SIM smartphone features 4 4G LTE connectivity, and runs Cyanogen OS 11 based on Android 4.4.4 KitKat. It has a 5.5-inch HD IPS display with 720 x 1280 pixel resolution, protected by Gorilla Glass 3. It derives power off a 64-bit 1.5GHz octa-core Snapdragon 615 SoC (MSM8939), includes an Adreno 405 GPU and has 2GB RAM. For photographic needs the phone includes a 13-megapixel Sony Exmor CMOS sensor rear camera with an f/2.2 aperture and flash, while a front-facing 5-megapixel fixed-focus camera is great for clicking selfies and for video-calling. The phone enjoys a spacious memory of 16GB, which can be further expanded to 32GB via microSD. Equipped within the body is a 2500mAh Li-Po battery.
The sales of Yu Yureka are limited to one unit per user, and has a ‘waitlist’ feature, pretty much like in IRCTC. Registered users on Amazon should preferably login before 2pm to claim their unit, and save their payment details for a faster checkout. Unless the unit is added to cart and checked-out within a time span of fifteen minutes, the unit shall automatically be offered to the person next in the waitlist. The waitlisted person then gets a 3-minute window to add the unit to his cart, after which he has another fifteen minutes to buy and checkout.
