The new 2014 Honda City is expected to launch on 7th January. The new sedan shall come in three fuel variants- Petrol, CVT, and in a first- diesel. The company has already initiated the bookings, but other details shall be announced post launch. The engine equipped in this four-wheeler is the same as in Amaze, the aluminium 1.5-liter DTEC engine delivering 100PS at 3600rpm power and 200Nm peak torque at 1750rpm. This engine’s mated to a 6-speed manual transmission with optimized gear ratios. As for the performance, the car runs 0-100kmph in 12.8 seconds. Though Amaze is restricted to 140kmph, the City Diesel hits a maximum of 163kmph (which is still lower when compared to its competitors).
With the ARAI figures released, the City Diesel once launched shall be the most economical car in the country with a declared efficiency of 26kmpl. Available in 5 class variants- E, S, SV, V and VX, the E variant that’s the entry-level sedan is said to be priced around Rs 8 lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi).
